Feature: Travel Destination - North Shore, Oahu

photo from wikipedia

To say that North Shore is a magnet for adrenalin junkies would be an understatement. Many call it the surfing capital of the world! Go ask the millions of surfers or even beach bums that find their way yearly to North Shore.

Located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, North Shore benefits colossal waves from the stormy climate of the North Pacific towards the end of the year. These waves are usually concentrated around Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and the Ehukai Beach. Yet it is the latter that hosts three prestigious competitions a year, the Triple Crown of Surfing. A title practically coveted by every surfing junkie in the world.

Beyond the beach, North Shore is also about the exploring the great outdoors. The place has just about the most interesting landscape, flora and fauna that can be explored through horseback riding, trekking and still for the intrepid traveler, hang gliding.

Of course, you shouldn’t miss out on the sunset dinners, lush accommodations and signature umbrella drinks. Yes, North Shore may be full of the tropical paradise clichés but it truly is one place you can find everything for a perfect getaway, even for the not-so intrepid traveler.
